The Intergenerational Commission:
- Conducts regular meetings
- Provides a forum for networking on intergenerational issues
- Provides a membership directory
- Supports the intergenerational conference track at the Opening Minds Conference
- Contributes to research and professional publications
Mission:
The Intergenerational (I-G) Commission of the Chicago Metropolitan Association for the Education of Young Children promotes and supports experiences that build meaningful interactions and relationships among young children and older adults. The Intergenerational Commission strives to improve the quality of intergenerational activities through networking, advocacy, education, and professional development.
Membership:
The Commission welcomes anyone who wishes to foster intergenerational understanding and communication. At Commission meetings, members have an opportunity to network, raise and address issues, and promote intergenerational activities and programs. Our members include representatives of childcare and educational settings, senior care settings, health care services, schools, colleges, elder service agencies, religious institutions, governmental agencies, and intergenerational advocates.
